What is the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF)?
These holiday clubs, funded by Department for Education (DfE), give school-aged children access to healthy food, and a range of physical and enriching activities. The HAF programme is mainly for children who receive benefits-related free
school meals (FSM).
HAF providers (those who are funded to run the sessions) provide children with:
- Healthy, nutritious meals during the holiday clubs.
- Opportunity to engage in physical activity.
- The chance to socialise and make friends.
- Better understanding of food, nutrition and other health-related issues.
- Activities that engage and support their development.
- Access to the right support services where appropriate.
- Readiness for the next school term.
