Why attend?

This is a day for hands-on learning and meaningful connections. You will actively engage and reflect and leave with insights and tangible ideas that can be implemented in your work with children and families.

But if you need more convincing here are just a few reasons to join us:

Explore new ideas in Early Years Practice

You will be exploring topics that don’t always get talked about, including inclusive practice, the voice of the baby, mental health, wellbeing, and anti-racism in early years.

Shape and contribute to the future of Early Years practice

In-person delegates will actively take part in sessions that allow you to contribute to discussions that influence the future of Early Years services. This is a unique opportunity to help guide sector thinking.

Opportunities to connect

With limited in-person numbers and interactive sessions, you will have time for discussions and to build meaningful professional connections.

Be part of a welcoming and inclusive day

Join colleagues from public libraires, School Library Services, early years settings and education. The day is designed to be interactive, but supportive, giving everyone space to contribute how they chose and opportunities to learn from each other.

Take part in exploratory practical learning

BookingsPlus provides venue hire software and virtual tour services to Library Services, Local Authorities and schools.

BookingsPlus’ venue hire software allows members of the public to find, book and pay for your bookable spaces online. It delivers vital revenue to support the delivery of services and digitally transforms processes to save time and money. It is trusted by the likes of Libraries Unlimited, Newcastle City Council, Kent County Council, Worcestershire County Council, Hillingdon Council and Bolton Council, alongside hundreds of schools and Multi Academy Trusts.

Virtual tours are accessibility resources that enable library users to explore and feel confident with your libraries before they visit. They allow users to look around and get familiar with the space remotely, which can be especially helpful for those who benefit from knowing what to expect in advance or are neurodivergent. Information points add context and signpost users to services. Additionally, tours support space bookings by allowing prospective hirers to visualise spaces before booking. We have created virtual tours for more than 300 libraries and schools across the UK.

Inclusive practice in Early Years libraries

Together, we’ll examine practical, meaningful ways libraries can embed early years inclusion, from creating sensory-friendly environments and supporting children with SEND, to representing diverse cultures, gender identities and family structures in resources and interactions.

We’ll consider how small changes can have a big impact on children’s confidence, comfort and sense of belonging.

Led by Alison Heseltine, Early Years Development Manager for the Early Years Alliance and Louise Campbell White, Early Years Development Officer for the Early Years Alliance, this interactive session explores what inclusive practice looks like in early years library provision, with a focus on challenging stereotypes and supporting children and families with diverse needs, identities and experiences.
