Introducing Libraries Rising

This year marks an exciting new chapter for our charity, and our 30th anniversary! We’re proud to announce ASCEL has become Libraries Rising.

Our new name reflects who we are today and where we’re heading next; a vibrant, connected network committed to creating libraries of tomorrow with children and young people of today.

For over 30 years, we’ve connected and supported people who care deeply about children and young people and the power of libraries. Now as Libraries Rising, we’re stepping forward with renewed energy and a clear purpose: to create libraries of tomorrow with children and young people of today, places where they feel understood, empowered and inspired.

While our name has changed, our spirit hasn’t. The same connection, kindness and collaboration that began with a group of senior librarians in 1995 continue to remain at the heart of everything we do.

Together with our members and partners, we’re amplifying young voices, championing inclusive services and building the next chapter for libraries across the UK.
