Starting Reception Guide
Starting school is a big milestone for children and their families. Libraries have an important role to play in helping families feel confident, supported and excited about this next step.
Created in collaboration with Starting Reception, this guide explores the many ways your library service can support children and families as they prepare for the move into Reception.
The guide is based on the Starting Reception definition, of the basic skills children can practise before starting school, recognising that every child develops at their own pace and that these skills can be built through everyday experiences, play, conversation and exploration.
